The SnowPro Core Certification is Snowflake's foundational credential and the entry point to the SnowPro programme. It validates a broad working knowledge of the Snowflake AI Data Cloud: its architecture, how you load and transform data, how performance and cost are managed through virtual warehouses and caching, and how data is protected and shared. Because it is the prerequisite mindset for the advanced role-based tracks (such as the SnowPro Advanced certifications), it is where most people on Snowflake start.
The current version of the exam is COF-C03, which replaced the earlier COF-C02 in early 2026. It is a knowledge exam rather than a hands-on lab: you answer multiple-choice and multiple-select questions through Pearson VUE, online-proctored or at a test centre. Snowflake does not require any formal prerequisites, but it recommends at least six months of real Snowflake use, and that experience shows in the exam. US aggregators put Snowflake-skilled data engineers broadly in the US$95k-150k range, rising well above that with seniority.
